Gracie Gym Richardson is proud to offer Muay Thai as an additional skills training at our Academy. Muay Thai is a combat sport that is translated to mean “Thai Boxing.” What sets Muay Thai apart from traditional boxing is the various clinching techniques along with the use of all limbs during combat – fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Muay Thai utilizes the entire body, therefore full body conditioning is essential. Pad training is a essential element of Muay Thai conditioning that involves practicing punches, kicks, knees, and elbow strikes with a coach who is equipped with full body pads. With the development of Mixed Martial Arts over the last 20 years, Muay Thai has emerged an essential combat art that not only equips the fighter for combat, but conditions the entire cardiovascular system.
Our staff UFC Fighter, Ryan “Babyface” Benoit, is a proficient Muay Thai trained fighter who incorporates his significant wrestling background along with his standup acumen. Benoit is not only a seasoned MMA fighter, but he is world renowned coach who has an emerging team of MMA fighters he actively coaches, mentors and corners. Gracie Gym Richardson is proud to have Coach Benoit on our team where he teaches No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai.
